Local Perx Accessibility Statement
Local Perx believes that people of all abilities should be able to support local nonprofit organizations, access membership benefits, discover participating businesses, and manage their accounts.
This Accessibility Statement explains our accessibility goals, the digital formats through which Local Perx is provided, the geographic availability of the program, available accommodations, third-party limitations, and the accessibility considerations associated with optional text messages.
This statement should be read together with the Local Perx Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy.
Our Accessibility Commitment
Local Perx is committed to making its website, progressive web application (“PWA”), digital membership wallet, fundraising pages, merchant offers, dashboards, and support services reasonably accessible to people with disabilities.
Our goal is to design and maintain the Platform in substantial alignment with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (“WCAG”) 2.2 Level AA, where reasonably applicable.
Accessibility is an ongoing process. Technology, accessibility standards, assistive devices, browsers, third-party integrations, and user needs continue to change. Local Perx will continue evaluating and improving the Platform as it develops.
Digital-Only Membership Platform
Local Perx is provided in digital format through:
- Desktop and laptop web browsers.
- Tablet web browsers.
- Mobile web browsers.
- The installable Local Perx progressive web application.
- Approved email communications.
- Optional SMS communications in applicable situations.
Local Perx does not require a physical membership card. Members access their membership wallet, participating offers, redemption history, savings information, account settings, and support options digitally.
Printable QR-code pages and fundraising materials may be available for promotional purposes. These materials help supporters reach a participant’s fundraising page but do not replace the member’s digital wallet or create a separate physical membership.
Geographic and Program Availability
Local Perx is available only in communities and service areas where approved nonprofit organizations, schools, teams, community groups, and local businesses are actively participating.
The availability of Local Perx in one city, county, state, or region does not mean that the same organizations, merchants, offers, or membership benefits are available in another area.
Program availability may depend on:
- Participation by a local nonprofit organization or school.
- Participation by local merchants.
- An active Local Perx service area.
- Available membership levels.
- Local payment and communication capabilities.
- Applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Geographic eligibility established for a particular campaign or offer.
Geographic availability is separate from disability accessibility. Local Perx intends to provide individuals with disabilities equal access to available Platform services within every supported service area.
If Local Perx is not yet operating in a user’s area, the Platform may allow the user to:
- Request notification when service becomes available.
- Recommend a nonprofit organization.
- Recommend a local business.
- Contact Local Perx about launching a new service area.
Local Perx does not guarantee that service will become available in every requested location.
Accessibility Standards
Our accessibility goal is WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
Local Perx will work toward supporting the four primary accessibility principles:
- Perceivable — Information should be available in ways users can perceive, including through text alternatives, readable contrast, scalable text, and properly structured content.
- Operable — Navigation and interactive features should be usable through different input methods, including keyboards, touchscreens, switch devices, and compatible assistive technologies.
- Understandable — Content, instructions, navigation, forms, error messages, and account actions should be clear and consistent.
- Robust — The Platform should use standards-based code and accessible interface practices that work with supported browsers and assistive technologies.
Accessibility Features
Local Perx will work to provide the following features throughout its website and PWA:
- Proper page titles and heading structure.
- Descriptive labels for form fields.
- Alternative text for meaningful images.
- Keyboard-accessible navigation.
- Visible keyboard focus indicators.
- Logical focus order.
- Sufficient text and interface contrast.
- Text resizing and browser zoom support.
- Responsive layouts for different screen sizes.
- Touch controls with appropriately sized targets.
- Text instructions that do not rely only on color.
- Accessible error messages and validation.
- Clear descriptions of required fields.
- Accessible account authentication.
- Consistent navigation and support links.
- Plain-language instructions for important actions.
- Captions or transcripts for important video and audio content.
- Options to pause or avoid unnecessary animation.
- Warnings before a timed session expires where practical.
- Accessible confirmation messages following purchases, refunds, cancellations, and account changes.
Accessibility features will be tested with a combination of automated tools, keyboard testing, screen-reader testing, browser zoom, mobile testing, and human review.
Accessible Membership Management
Local Perx intends to make the following membership functions accessible through supported digital devices:
- Creating an adult account.
- Signing in and recovering an account.
- Purchasing a membership.
- Reviewing membership terms.
- Providing automatic-renewal consent.
- Accessing the digital membership wallet.
- Viewing available merchants and offers.
- Redeeming an offer.
- Reviewing redemption and savings history.
- Changing notification preferences.
- Reviewing the membership expiration date.
- Canceling automatic renewal.
- Requesting a refund during the applicable period.
- Contacting customer support.
A consumer should not be required to use SMS as the only method of completing an essential membership action.
Accessibility for Parents, Guardians, and Children
Local Perx uses parent- or guardian-managed accounts for children who cannot or should not manage their own accounts.
A parent or guardian may manage multiple participating children through one accessible dashboard.
Local Perx intends to provide clear controls for:
- Linking a child to an organization.
- Reviewing campaign information.
- Managing a child’s fundraising page.
- Approving or removing a photograph.
- Accessing a child’s QR code and sharing tools.
- Reviewing goals and sales progress.
- Requesting an organization transfer.
- Managing privacy and consent.
- Requesting correction or deletion of a child’s information.
Children are not required to provide a personal email address, telephone number, payment information, or independent login credentials for ordinary participation.
Important instructions should be written in plain language that can be understood by parents, guardians, coordinators, and users with cognitive or learning disabilities.
Fundraising-Page Accessibility
Public fundraising pages should be responsive and usable on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
A participant page may include:
- The approved participant display name.
- The participating organization.
- The purpose of the fundraiser.
- The membership price.
- Available participating businesses.
- The participant’s goal and progress.
- Prize-period dates and countdown.
- Purchase and sharing controls.
- A QR code and accessible short link.
A QR code will not be the only way to reach a fundraising page. A readable and selectable web link should also be provided.
Meaningful campaign images should include alternative text. Decorative images should be hidden from assistive technologies where appropriate.
Goal progress should be presented in text or numbers and not communicated solely through a visual chart or color.
Merchant-Offer Accessibility
Local Perx will work to present merchant offers in a consistent, readable format that identifies:
- Merchant name.
- Offer description.
- Participating location.
- Important exclusions.
- Expiration date where applicable.
- Redemption instructions.
- Availability status.
Merchants are responsible for the accessibility of their physical locations, websites, products, services, and independently controlled content.
Local Perx does not own or control participating merchant facilities. Questions about physical accommodations at a merchant location should be directed to that merchant.
Local Perx may assist a member in locating merchant contact information or reporting inaccurate or inaccessible offer information.
Digital Redemption
Local Perx intends to make offer redemption available through an accessible digital process.
Where possible:
- Redemption buttons will have descriptive labels.
- Confirmation screens will be readable by screen readers.
- Important instructions will not rely only on images or color.
- Timed redemption screens will provide sufficient time or an extension mechanism.
- A merchant confirmation method will not require precise physical gestures.
- A text-based confirmation will accompany visual confirmation.
A merchant may use additional validation procedures, but Local Perx encourages participating merchants to provide reasonable assistance to members with disabilities.
SMS Accessibility and Consent
SMS may be used for limited Platform purposes, including:
- Account verification.
- Security alerts.
- Purchase confirmations.
- Renewal reminders.
- Cancellation confirmations.
- Refund updates.
- Campaign communications.
- Support notifications.
- Promotional messages when valid consent exists.
SMS is an optional or supplemental communication channel and is not intended to be the only means of accessing essential Local Perx services.
Members may use the web or PWA to manage essential account and membership settings without relying exclusively on text messages.
Local Perx will send automated SMS messages only when the recipient has provided the consent required for that category of message.
A parent or member cannot provide SMS consent on behalf of an unrelated friend, relative, coworker, or prospective supporter.
SMS Charges, Delivery, and Member Acknowledgment
Message and data rates may apply according to the recipient’s mobile carrier and service plan.
Mobile carriers—not Local Perx—control:
- Wireless coverage.
- Message routing.
- Delivery timing.
- Spam filtering.
- Device compatibility.
- Carrier fees.
- Short-code or telephone-number blocking.
- Delayed or undelivered messages.
Local Perx does not guarantee that every SMS message will be delivered or received at a particular time.
By voluntarily electing to receive properly authorized Local Perx SMS messages, the member acknowledges that:
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Message frequency may vary.
- Carrier delays or delivery failures may occur.
- SMS should not be relied upon for emergencies.
- The member is responsible for maintaining a compatible device and current telephone number.
- The member may reply STOP to unsubscribe.
- The member may reply HELP for assistance.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the member agrees to release and hold Local Perx harmless from carrier-imposed charges, carrier delivery failures, unsupported-device conditions, or consequences caused by inaccurate contact information when the messages were properly authorized and sent within the ordinary course of the Platform.
This limited release does not excuse Local Perx from responsibility for unlawful messages, messages sent without required consent, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or responsibilities that cannot legally be waived.
Alternative Communications
A member who cannot use SMS may request or select another available communication method, such as:
- Email.
- In-app notification.
- Web-dashboard notice.
- Telephone support.
- Written support communication.
Some urgent account-security messages may be sent through more than one channel.
Local Perx will make reasonable efforts to provide important membership information in an accessible alternative format upon request.
Stopping Text Messages
A recipient may reply STOP to unsubscribe from applicable automated text messages.
A recipient may reply HELP for assistance.
Unsubscribing from text messages does not automatically:
- Cancel a Local Perx membership.
- Cancel automatic renewal.
- Delete an account.
- Request a refund.
- End participation in a fundraiser.
These actions must be completed through the account dashboard or another approved method.
Local Perx will continue providing legally required or essential information through another available channel when appropriate.
Third-Party Content and Services
Local Perx may integrate with or link to services operated by:
- Stripe.
- Twilio.
- Mapping providers.
- Social-media platforms.
- CMI and other voucher providers.
- Participating merchants.
- Online retailers.
- Email providers.
- Other independent services.
Local Perx does not control the accessibility of independent third-party websites, mobile applications, physical locations, documents, or checkout experiences.
We encourage third-party providers and participating merchants to make their services accessible. Local Perx may report an accessibility concern to the appropriate provider but cannot guarantee the provider’s response.
The accessibility standards and policies of an independent provider apply when a user leaves Local Perx or interacts directly with that provider.
Documents, QR Codes, and Downloadable Materials
Local Perx may provide downloadable documents, including:
- QR-code fundraising pages.
- Financial statements.
- Transaction records.
- Campaign reports.
- Membership confirmations.
- Refund confirmations.
- Legal policies.
We will work to make important documents accessible. When an accessible document is unavailable, a user may request the same information in an alternative format.
A QR code should be accompanied by a readable short link and descriptive text so that scanning is not the only available method.
Supported Browsers and Assistive Technology
Local Perx is intended to work with current or recent versions of commonly used:
- Web browsers.
- Desktop operating systems.
- Mobile operating systems.
- Screen readers.
- Voice-control software.
- Keyboard and switch navigation.
- Browser zoom and magnification tools.
Older or unsupported browsers and operating systems may not provide the same level of accessibility, security, or functionality.
Users experiencing a problem should identify, when comfortable doing so:
- Device type.
- Operating system.
- Browser.
- Assistive technology.
- Page or feature involved.
- Description of the problem.
A user is not required to disclose a diagnosis or private medical information to request accessibility assistance.
Ongoing Testing and Improvement
Local Perx may conduct:
- Automated accessibility scans.
- Manual keyboard testing.
- Screen-reader testing.
- Color-contrast reviews.
- Mobile and tablet testing.
- Zoom and text-resize testing.
- Form and checkout testing.
- Testing by users with disabilities.
- Reviews of third-party integrations.
- Remediation of identified barriers.
New features should be evaluated for accessibility before public release whenever reasonably possible.
Material accessibility problems will be prioritized according to their impact on essential functions such as purchasing, membership access, redemption, cancellation, refunds, privacy, and account security.
Accessibility Assistance
If a user cannot complete an action because of an accessibility barrier, Local Perx will make reasonable efforts to provide assistance or an alternative method.
Assistance may include:
- Helping the user locate information.
- Providing information in another format.
- Assisting with account navigation.
- Supporting membership cancellation.
- Supporting a timely refund request.
- Correcting inaccessible content.
- Coordinating with a participating organization or merchant.
- Recording an accessibility issue for remediation.
Local Perx will not charge an additional fee solely for providing reasonable accessibility assistance.
