Local Perx Refund, Cancellation, and Automatic-Renewal Policy

This Refund, Cancellation, and Automatic-Renewal Policy applies to purchases and renewals of Local Perx digital memberships.

It should be read together with the Local Perx Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

At a Glance

Policy at a Glance

  • A Local Perx membership is valid for one year.
  • Consumers have 10 calendar days to cancel an initial purchase.
  • Consumers also have 10 calendar days to cancel an annual renewal.
  • Eligible refunds are returned to the original payment method.
  • After the 10-day period, consumers may cancel future renewal, but the current membership charge is generally nonrefundable.
  • Memberships automatically renew annually unless canceled.
  • Renewal occurs at the current price of the membership level selected by the consumer.
  • Local Perx will provide advance renewal notice.
  • Local Perx is responsible only for the Local Perx membership transaction.
  • Local Perx is not responsible for refunding purchases made from participating merchants or online retailers.
  • Merchants control their products, services, discounts, exclusions, refund policies, and offer availability.
  • A merchant may change, pause, restrict, discontinue, or refuse an offer subject to applicable law and its agreement with Local Perx.
Section 01

Purpose and Scope

Local Perx operates a software platform that connects members with participating nonprofit organizations, fundraising participants, local businesses, online retailers, representatives, and independent promotional providers.

A consumer purchases access to a Local Perx digital membership. The membership may provide access to:

  • A digital membership wallet.
  • Local merchant offers.
  • Online retailer offers.
  • Membership savings information.
  • Redemption history.
  • A welcome voucher, when offered.
  • Fundraising-support attribution.
  • Other benefits associated with the selected membership level.

Local Perx is responsible for processing, activating, renewing, canceling, and, where applicable, refunding the Local Perx membership itself.

Local Perx is not the seller or provider of the products and services purchased from participating merchants or online retailers.

This Policy does not govern refunds for:

  • Restaurant purchases.
  • Retail purchases.
  • Travel reservations.
  • Professional services.
  • Delivery orders.
  • Event tickets.
  • Online retail orders.
  • Merchant gift cards.
  • Products or services obtained from participating businesses.
  • Third-party voucher reservations or bookings.

Those transactions are governed by the independent seller’s own policies.

Section 02

Meaning of Important Terms

For this Policy:

  • “Consumer” means the person who purchases or renews a Local Perx membership.
  • “Member” means the person authorized to use the Local Perx membership.
  • “Membership” means the digital Local Perx membership level selected at checkout.
  • “Initial Purchase” means the consumer’s first successful purchase of a particular membership.
  • “Renewal” means the automatic purchase of an additional one-year membership term.
  • “Purchase Date” means the date on which Stripe or another authorized payment processor successfully confirms the membership charge.
  • “Cancellation” means ending automatic renewal or terminating a membership.
  • “Refund” means returning an eligible membership charge to the original payment method.
  • “Merchant Purchase” means a separate transaction between a member and a participating local merchant, online retailer, travel provider, restaurant, service provider, or other independent business.
  • “Offer” means a discount, incentive, promotion, or benefit independently supplied by a participating merchant or provider.
Section 03

Ten-Day Right to Cancel an Initial Purchase

A consumer may cancel an initial Local Perx membership within 10 calendar days following the successful Purchase Date.

The Purchase Date is Day 0. The first calendar day following the Purchase Date is Day 1.

For example, if a membership is successfully purchased on October 1, the consumer may submit an eligible cancellation request through the end of October 11, subject to the consumer’s local time and applicable law.

A request is considered timely when it is submitted through an approved cancellation method before the 10-day period expires.

Approved cancellation methods include:

  • The Cancel Membership option in the member dashboard.
  • The Cancel and Request Refund option shown during the eligible period.
  • Emailing [SUPPORT EMAIL].
  • Calling [SUPPORT TELEPHONE NUMBER], where telephone support is available.
  • Any additional method required by applicable law.

The consumer should receive an electronic confirmation showing the date and time of the request.

Section 04

Ten-Day Right to Cancel a Renewal

Each annual renewal charge has its own 10-calendar-day cancellation period.

A consumer may request cancellation and a refund within 10 calendar days after the successful renewal charge.

Canceling a renewal during this period will:

  • Refund the eligible renewal charge.
  • End the newly renewed membership term.
  • Disable future automatic renewal.
  • Return the membership to its prior expired status.
  • End access to benefits associated with the refunded renewal term.

Canceling automatic renewal before the renewal date prevents the charge from occurring and does not require a refund.

Section 05

Refund Amount During the Ten-Day Period

Unless otherwise disclosed or required by law, an approved refund made during the 10-day period will include the amount charged by Local Perx for the applicable membership and applicable refundable taxes.

Local Perx will not deduct its internal Stripe processing cost or internal administrative cost from an otherwise valid consumer refund.

A refund applies only to the Local Perx membership transaction. It does not include:

  • Money paid directly to a merchant.
  • The stated retail value of an offer.
  • Savings a member expected but did not receive.
  • Travel taxes, reservation fees, or booking charges.
  • Charges imposed by a third-party voucher provider.
  • Shipping or delivery charges paid to a retailer.
  • Tips, gratuities, or merchant service charges.
  • Incidental losses or expenses.
Section 06

Effect of a Refunded Membership

When Local Perx issues a full membership refund:

  • The membership is deactivated.
  • The digital wallet becomes inactive.
  • Access to member-only offers ends.
  • Future redemptions are prohibited.
  • Automatic renewal is canceled.
  • Unused promotional benefits may be canceled.
  • Fundraising credit connected to the purchase is reversed.
  • Applicable financial distributions are reversed or adjusted.
  • The consumer receives a refund confirmation.

A consumer may retain access to their basic Local Perx account for recordkeeping or future purchases, but membership-only features will no longer be available.

The consumer may purchase another membership later. Repeated purchase-and-cancel activity may be reviewed for fraud or abuse.

Section 07

Membership Use During the Ten-Day Period

Viewing offers, opening the digital wallet, or installing the Local Perx PWA does not by itself eliminate the 10-day cancellation right.

However, Local Perx may investigate activity involving:

  • Multiple accounts created to repeatedly claim new-member benefits.
  • Repeated purchases followed by refunds.
  • Fraudulent merchant redemptions.
  • Duplicate welcome-voucher claims.
  • Manipulation of fundraising totals or prizes.
  • Unauthorized payment methods.
  • False chargeback claims.

Local Perx may deny or restrict a refund associated with fraud or intentional abuse where permitted by law. A legitimate consumer cancellation will not be treated as abuse merely because the consumer accessed the Platform.

Section 08

Welcome Vouchers and Cancellation

A Local Perx membership may include the opportunity to select a welcome voucher from CMI or another independent provider.

To prevent voucher misuse, Local Perx may:

  • Delay voucher activation until the 10-day cancellation period ends.
  • Display available vouchers during the cancellation period but activate the selection afterward.
  • Cancel an unredeemed voucher when the membership is refunded.
  • Prevent the same person from repeatedly receiving new-member vouchers.
  • Require additional acceptance of the voucher provider’s terms.

If a third-party voucher has already been activated, booked, or redeemed, that voucher remains subject to the independent provider’s terms.

CMI and other voucher providers—not Local Perx—control travel availability, reservations, taxes, fees, restrictions, expiration dates, and fulfillment.

The cancellation of a Local Perx membership does not require Local Perx to refund an amount paid directly to a third-party voucher provider.

Section 09

Membership Term

Unless clearly stated otherwise at checkout, each Local Perx membership is valid for one year from its activation date.

For example, a membership activated on October 1 will ordinarily remain active through September 30 of the following year.

The expiration date will appear in the member’s digital wallet and account settings.

Access may be temporarily restricted when:

  • Payment is reversed.
  • A chargeback is filed.
  • Fraud is suspected.
  • The account is compromised.
  • The member violates the Terms of Service.
  • Continued access would create a legal or security risk.

A suspension for investigation does not automatically extend the membership term. Local Perx may extend the term when a confirmed Platform problem prevented meaningful access for an extended period.

Section 10

Automatic Annual Renewal

A Local Perx membership automatically renews for additional one-year terms unless the consumer cancels.

Before the original purchase is completed, Local Perx will clearly disclose:

  • That the membership renews automatically.
  • The initial price.
  • The selected membership level.
  • The one-year term.
  • The expected renewal date.
  • That the renewal price may change.
  • How to cancel.
  • The 10-day refund period following a renewal.
  • Any material limitations required by law.

The consumer must affirmatively agree to the renewal terms. Local Perx will not rely on a hidden disclosure or preselected consent box.

Local Perx will retain a record of:

  • The renewal disclosure presented.
  • The date and time of acceptance.
  • The membership level selected.
  • The price accepted.
  • The account and transaction identifiers.
  • The version of the renewal terms accepted.
Section 11

Renewal Price and Membership Level

The membership will renew at the then-current price of the membership level most recently selected by the consumer.

For example, if a consumer selected a Local Perx Standard membership, the account will renew at the current Standard membership price unless the consumer changes levels or cancels.

Local Perx may change:

  • Membership prices.
  • Membership names.
  • Included features.
  • Geographic availability.
  • Offer categories.
  • Voucher availability.
  • Other membership-level benefits.

Local Perx will provide advance notice of a material price change before charging the new renewal price.

A consumer who does not want to renew at the new price must cancel before the renewal charge.

Local Perx will not move a consumer to a more expensive membership level without authorization, except when a discontinued plan is replaced according to a properly disclosed migration process and applicable law.

Section 12

Renewal Notices

Local Perx intends to send annual renewal notices:

  • Approximately 30 days before renewal.
  • Again approximately 7 days before renewal.

Additional notices may be provided where required by law.

The renewal notice should include:

  • The member’s name.
  • Membership level.
  • Renewal date.
  • Renewal price.
  • Notice of any price change.
  • Payment method description, such as the last four digits.
  • Instructions for changing the payment method.
  • A direct cancellation link.
  • Customer-support information.
  • A reminder of the post-renewal 10-day refund period.

Not receiving or opening a properly sent reminder does not necessarily prevent renewal, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Consumers are responsible for keeping their contact information current. Local Perx will maintain records showing when renewal notices were sent and whether delivery failed.

Section 13

Canceling Automatic Renewal

A consumer may cancel automatic renewal at any time before the next renewal charge.

Consumers may cancel through:

  • The member dashboard.
  • Membership Settings.
  • The renewal reminder link.
  • Email support.
  • Telephone support where available.
  • Another legally required method.

Online cancellation will not require the consumer to call, speak with a retention representative, answer unrelated questions, or complete unnecessary steps.

After cancellation:

  • No additional annual renewal will be processed.
  • The current paid membership remains active until its expiration date.
  • Current benefits remain available during the remaining term.
  • No prorated refund is automatically issued after the 10-day period.
  • A confirmation will be sent to the consumer.

Local Perx may ask the consumer to voluntarily provide a cancellation reason, but answering will not be required to complete cancellation.

Section 14

Cancellation Is Different From Deleting the Application

The following actions do not cancel automatic renewal:

  • Deleting the PWA.
  • Removing a browser shortcut.
  • Signing out.
  • No longer using the membership.
  • Unsubscribing from marketing emails.
  • Replying STOP to text messages.
  • Removing a payment card without canceling the membership.
  • Asking a participating merchant to cancel.
  • Asking a nonprofit or fundraising participant to cancel.

The consumer must use one of the authorized Local Perx cancellation methods.

Stopping promotional text messages does not automatically cancel the membership because communication consent and membership billing are separate choices.

Section 15

Cancellations After the Ten-Day Period

After the applicable 10-day cancellation period, membership payments are generally nonrefundable.

A consumer may still cancel future automatic renewal. The membership will remain active through the current expiration date.

Local Perx does not ordinarily provide a prorated refund because:

  • The consumer received access to the membership for the annual term.
  • Offers and benefits may have been available immediately.
  • Fundraising proceeds and commissions may have been allocated.
  • The membership may have included a welcome benefit.
  • Platform and payment costs may already have been incurred.

Local Perx may make an exception when:

  • Applicable law requires a refund.
  • A duplicate charge occurred.
  • Local Perx processed a charge after a confirmed cancellation.
  • The membership was not delivered or activated.
  • A verified technical failure prevented access for a substantial period.
  • The charge was unauthorized.
  • Local Perx approves another documented exception.
Section 16

Duplicate Membership Charges

If a consumer is accidentally charged more than once for the same membership and membership term, Local Perx will investigate and refund the confirmed duplicate charge.

The consumer should provide:

  • Name.
  • Account email address.
  • Transaction dates.
  • Transaction numbers.
  • Last four digits of the payment method, when requested securely.
  • A brief explanation of the suspected duplicate.

Consumers should not email complete payment-card numbers.

Section 17

Failed and Retried Renewal Payments

If an automatic renewal payment fails, Local Perx may:

  • Notify the consumer.
  • Ask the consumer to update the payment method.
  • Retry the payment through Stripe.
  • Provide a limited grace period.
  • Temporarily suspend membership benefits.
  • Allow the membership to expire if payment is not completed.

Local Perx will not intentionally create duplicate annual memberships because of a payment retry.

A successful retry becomes the renewal Purchase Date for purposes of the 10-day renewal cancellation period.

Section 18

Merchant Purchases Are Separate Transactions

Purchases made from participating merchants and online retailers are separate from the Local Perx membership purchase.

Examples include:

  • A meal purchased at a restaurant.
  • Clothing purchased from a retailer.
  • An oil change.
  • A fitness class.
  • A hotel reservation.
  • An attraction ticket.
  • An online order.
  • A professional service.
  • Delivery or shipping charges.

The independent business—not Local Perx—is responsible for:

  • Product quality.
  • Service quality.
  • Order fulfillment.
  • Inventory.
  • Delivery.
  • Merchant billing errors.
  • Returns.
  • Exchanges.
  • Warranties.
  • Merchant cancellations.
  • Merchant refunds.
  • Product or service disputes.

The consumer must contact the merchant or online retailer directly.

Local Perx may provide merchant contact information or forward a complaint, but Local Perx cannot require a merchant to issue a refund for a transaction that Local Perx did not sell.

Section 19

Merchant Offers and Discounts

Participating merchants independently create and control their offers.

A merchant may change, pause, restrict, replace, discontinue, or refuse an offer at any time, subject to applicable law and the merchant’s agreement with Local Perx.

Offers may be subject to:

  • Expiration dates.
  • Location restrictions.
  • Product exclusions.
  • Minimum purchases.
  • Maximum savings.
  • Day or time limitations.
  • Availability.
  • Inventory limitations.
  • One-use or frequency restrictions.
  • No-stacking requirements.
  • Employee verification.
  • Membership validation.
  • Other disclosed conditions.

Local Perx does not guarantee:

  • That every offer will remain available for the full membership year.
  • That a merchant will remain in business.
  • That every merchant location will participate.
  • That an offer will apply to every product or service.
  • That a merchant will have sufficient inventory.
  • That a member will achieve a particular amount of savings.
  • That an independent merchant will resolve a dispute in the member’s favor.

The change or discontinuation of an individual offer does not automatically create a right to a membership refund after the 10-day period.

Section 20

Merchant Refusal of an Offer

A merchant may refuse an offer when:

  • The offer has expired.
  • The offer was discontinued or replaced.
  • The transaction does not meet the offer requirements.
  • The offer is not valid at that location.
  • The member attempts prohibited offer stacking.
  • The membership is inactive.
  • The offer was previously redeemed beyond its permitted frequency.
  • The merchant reasonably suspects fraud, copying, screenshot misuse, or unauthorized sharing.
  • The product or service is unavailable.
  • Redemption would violate law or create a safety concern.

Members should confirm the current offer terms in the Local Perx PWA before ordering or purchasing.

If a merchant refuses an offer, the member may report the issue through Local Perx. Local Perx may investigate, correct the offer listing, contact the merchant, pause the offer, or remove the merchant.

Reporting a refused offer does not guarantee reimbursement or a membership refund.

Section 21

Online Retailer Offers

Online retailer discounts may depend on:

  • A tracked link.
  • Promotional code.
  • Eligible products.
  • Purchase minimum.
  • Shipping destination.
  • New-customer status.
  • Retailer account.
  • Cookie or browser settings.
  • Promotion dates.

Local Perx is not responsible when an online retailer:

  • Rejects a promotional code.
  • Changes its prices.
  • Excludes a product.
  • Cancels an order.
  • Delays shipping.
  • Issues store credit instead of cash.
  • Refuses a return.
  • Changes or ends a promotion.

Refunds for online purchases must be requested from the online retailer.

Section 22

Nonprofit and Fundraising Allocations

A Local Perx membership purchase may generate financial credit for:

  • A participating nonprofit organization.
  • A school, team, or community group.
  • A fundraising participant.
  • County, state, or national representatives.
  • A Prize Reserve.
  • Local Perx.

When a membership is refunded, the corresponding transaction is treated as reversed.

The refund may result in:

  • A reduction in the participant’s sales total.
  • A reduction in campaign progress.
  • A leaderboard adjustment.
  • A prize-eligibility adjustment.
  • Reversal of a nonprofit distribution.
  • Reversal of representative commissions.
  • Reversal of a Prize Reserve allocation.
  • Reversal of Local Perx revenue.

A participant or nonprofit cannot prevent an otherwise valid consumer refund.

Section 23

Refunds After Funds Have Been Distributed

Local Perx may issue an eligible consumer refund even if portions of the original transaction were already distributed.

When this occurs:

  • Unpaid allocations will be canceled.
  • Available connected-account balances may be reversed.
  • Previously paid recipients may receive a negative balance.
  • The negative balance may be offset against a future eligible payout.
  • Affected recipients will receive a transaction record or notification.
  • Local Perx will maintain an auditable record of the reversal.

The consumer will not be required to contact every recipient or manage the financial reversal.

Section 24

Unauthorized Charges

A consumer should report a suspected unauthorized Local Perx charge promptly.

Local Perx may request information needed to verify:

  • The account holder.
  • The purchaser.
  • The transaction.
  • The payment method.
  • Whether another authorized family member made the purchase.
  • Whether the account was compromised.

Local Perx may temporarily restrict the account while investigating.

Confirmed unauthorized charges will be handled according to applicable law, Stripe requirements, and payment-network rules.

Section 25

Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

Consumers are encouraged to contact Local Perx before filing a chargeback so we have an opportunity to resolve the concern.

This does not limit the consumer’s legal right to contact their financial institution.

When a chargeback is filed:

  • The disputed membership may be suspended.
  • Automatic renewal may be disabled.
  • Fundraising credit may be temporarily reversed.
  • Allocated payouts may be placed on hold.
  • Local Perx may submit transaction and consent records to Stripe or the payment network.
  • The final result may be determined by the issuing bank or card network.

Knowingly filing a false chargeback may result in suspension or termination.

Section 26

Technical Access Problems

A consumer experiencing a technical problem should contact Local Perx promptly.

Local Perx may attempt to:

  • Restore account access.
  • Correct account information.
  • Replace an invalid membership credential.
  • Repair the digital wallet.
  • Extend the membership term.
  • Correct an expiration date.
  • Provide another reasonable remedy.
  • Issue a refund where appropriate or legally required.

Temporary outages affecting Local Perx, the consumer’s device, internet provider, merchant, Stripe, Twilio, social network, or another third party do not automatically create a refund right.

A prolonged verified failure attributable to Local Perx will be evaluated individually.

Section 27

Death, Incapacity, or Exceptional Hardship

Local Perx may consider a cancellation or refund request outside the normal period when the member dies, becomes incapacitated, or experiences another documented exceptional circumstance.

Local Perx may request reasonable documentation. Any information received will be handled according to the Privacy Policy.

Approval is discretionary unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Section 28

Account Suspension or Termination

If Local Perx terminates a membership without alleging fraud or a material violation by the member, Local Perx may provide:

  • Continued access through the paid term.
  • A prorated refund.
  • A full refund.
  • Another legally appropriate remedy.

If Local Perx terminates an account for fraud, abuse, unlawful activity, unauthorized sharing, or a material Terms violation, the member may not be entitled to a refund where permitted by law.

Local Perx will document the reason, date, and financial treatment of an administrative termination.

Section 29

Refund Status and Notifications

The member dashboard may show a refund as:

  • Requested.
  • Under Review.
  • Approved.
  • Submitted to Payment Processor.
  • Completed.
  • Denied.
  • Additional Information Required.

A refund is not complete merely because Local Perx has approved it. The consumer’s financial institution must post the returned funds.

Local Perx will provide a confirmation containing:

  • Transaction identifier.
  • Refunded amount.
  • Submission date.
  • Original payment-method description.
  • Membership status.
  • Automatic-renewal status.
Section 30

Refund Request Review

Local Perx may review:

  • Whether the request was submitted on time.
  • Whether the charge was successful.
  • Whether the person requesting the refund is authorized.
  • Whether the membership was previously refunded.
  • Whether a duplicate or unauthorized charge occurred.
  • Whether fraud or abuse is suspected.
  • Whether applicable law requires a different result.

Local Perx will not deny a valid refund merely because the associated nonprofit, participant, or representative objects to the financial reversal.

Section 31

Refund Denials and Appeals

If Local Perx denies a refund, the consumer will receive the general reason for the decision unless disclosure would compromise security, fraud prevention, or another person’s privacy.

A consumer may request one additional review by contacting [REFUND APPEALS EMAIL] within 30 days of the denial.

The appeal should include:

  • Consumer name.
  • Transaction number.
  • Date of purchase or renewal.
  • Original refund-request date.
  • Reason the consumer believes the decision should be reconsidered.
  • Any relevant supporting information.

The appeal will be reviewed by an authorized person who was not solely responsible for the original denial when reasonably possible.

Section 32

No Waiver of Legal Rights

This Policy provides Local Perx’s standard refund and cancellation rules.

It does not eliminate any cancellation, refund, dispute, or consumer-protection right that cannot legally be waived.

Where applicable law provides a longer cancellation period, mandatory refund, special renewal notice, or different cancellation method, Local Perx will follow that requirement.

Section 33

Policy Changes

Local Perx may update this Policy to reflect changes in:

  • Membership options.
  • Platform features.
  • Payment processing.
  • Merchant participation.
  • Third-party vouchers.
  • Applicable law.
  • Operational procedures.

The updated Policy will display a revised effective date.

A change will not retroactively eliminate a consumer’s completed refund or cancellation right where prohibited by law.

Section 34

Contact Local Perx

For cancellations, refunds, renewal questions, or membership billing concerns, contact:

Local Perx
[FULL LEGAL COMPANY NAME]
[MAILING ADDRESS]
[CITY, STATE ZIP CODE]
[SUPPORT EMAIL]
[REFUND APPEALS EMAIL]
[SUPPORT TELEPHONE NUMBER]

When contacting Local Perx, provide:

  • Purchaser’s name.
  • Account email address.
  • Purchase or renewal date.
  • Transaction number.
  • Reason for the request.

Do not send complete payment-card numbers, passwords, Social Security numbers, or government identification documents by ordinary email.

Section 35

Donations and 50/50 Raffle Entries

Direct donations. Donations are voluntary gifts to the receiving organization and are generally final. A refund may be considered for a duplicate charge, a clear data-entry error reported promptly, or an unauthorized transaction. Recurring monthly donations may be cancelled at any time and cancellation stops future charges; it does not refund gifts already processed.

50/50 raffle entries. Raffle entries are final once purchased and are not refundable, transferable, or exchangeable, except where a draw is cancelled or where a refund is required by applicable law or by the licensing authority. If a draw is cancelled, eligible entry amounts are returned using the original payment method.

Raffles are offered only where permitted by state law and where the organization holds any required license or registration. Official rules published on the campaign page control the draw, prize claim, and any cancellation handling.

Draft policy summary for design purposes. Final legal language is published after review and is not a claim of legal or regulatory compliance.
